Coming soon: "Gallery of the Kiki" featuring work for sale by Wyatt Landis 〰️ 〰️
In 2020 while the world was locked away, Wyatt Landis, a painter I've worked with for 10 years who I'm proud to call my partner and I set to work making Art. I would load up a suitcase with costumes and meet Wyatt at his Capitol Hill studio (Studio Paradiso) where we'd look through the suitcase and decide what inspired us. A corset? A pair of gold shoes? I'd model and he would draw or occasionally paint; sometimes we'd work all night and pick it up the next day. Our references were many, but among them I'd list Egon Shiele, Hans Belmar, John Singer Sargeant, Frank Frazetta, Frida Kahlo, Auguste Rodin. This time, 2020 - 2022 would turn out to be the cornerstone of my arts education, bolstered by visits to the Met in 2017 and the Louvre in 2018. I was inhabiting Art.
Working with artists as a muse has been a unique experience. When my daughter was 5 she and I posed for a painting in Volunteer Park in Seattle. The painter was an elderly man I’d met while he was painting a storefront display, his easel set up on Broadway taking up a parking space. The Seattle Times happened to be at the park the day he painted us so I have the watercolor of Clair and I and the photo clipping from the newspaper.
More to come soon!
